How many times have you seen some old curtains or a tablecloth and thought, “I could wear that”?

It’s not just clothing ending up in landfill. Everyday household items are so often seen as single-use, but that’s simply not true.

The challenge here is to take something never intended to be worn and transform it into a wearable outfit. This theme asks you to think differently, to push past comfort zones, and to give an unloved item a brand-new story.

PLEASE NOTE: This competition is a ready-to-wear fashion competition, not a wearable art competition.

Materials & Sourcing

This category requires you to source your own textiles, fabrics, and materials. We will not be providing a bag of clothes for you to use.

• All materials should be second-hand (points will be deducted for using brand-new fabrics).

• The main goal in this category is to work with textiles or items not normally used in clothing

  • for example: curtains, rugs, lampshades, rope, upholstery, or other repurposed materials.

• You are welcome to rework materials you already own.

Key Dates & Info

• Registration opens: Monday 29 September 2025

• Registration closes: Saturday 31 January 2026

• Creative Check-in 1: Digital, email us progress + pics (week commencing 2 February 2026)

• Creative Check-in 2: In-person (week commencing 16 February 2026)

• Garments due in store: 2–6 March 2026 (judging follows shortly after)

• Designer write-up: Submit alongside garment delivery (see PDF for details)

• Fashion Show: Thursday 26 March 2026
